Zachary Keyser graduated with his Bachelors of Arts in Percussion Performance from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2020. He found his passion for music and percussion in high school through Keith Larson’s Percussion Studio and the Kansas City Youth Percussion Ensemble (KCPYE). He has enhanced his percussion studies through attending Leigh Howard Stevens Marimba seminars, Miami Music Festivals, and private studies. He has had the pleasure to play under the baton of Michael Stern, Robert Olson, Steven Davis, Joseph Parisi, Mark Gibson, Chris Kelts, Michael Rossi, and Kevin Noe.
Zachary is currently the principal percussionist for the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, and the assistant director of KCPYE. He has been a guest player for the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, Olathe Community Orchestra and the Kinnor Philharmonic Orchestra. He enjoys supporting local theater groups in the area by playing drum set and percussion. He volunteers in various theater programs including Theater in the Park, Theater in the Park Indoors, Faust Theater, and White Theater.
Zachary is currently preparing for graduate studies and is looking forward to releasing his recording of all six Bach Cello Suites transcribed for marimba.
