Tobias Chisnall

Tobias Chisnall is an Australian violinist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Tobias is a member of a number of orchestras including the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Orchestra, the Erie Philharmonic, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Johnstown Symphony, and the Youngstown Symphony.

In 2017 Tobias was appointed as the Associate Concertmaster of the Johnstown Symphony, PA.

In Australia, Tobias was a member of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Youth Orchestra, performing concerts with them from 2013 to 2015, under the baton of conductors such as James Judd and Simone Young.

Tobias was a founding member of the Childers Street Quartet. Based in Canberra, the quartet frequently collaborated with diverse musicians such as jazz multi-reedist, Bennie Maupin, and the Australian clarinetist, Alan Vivian. In 2012, the group was quartet in residence at the Saarburg Serenaden festival in Germany and in 2013 attended the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in Townsville. Since 2019 he has been a member of the Pittsburgh-based Red Line String Quartet.

Tobias studied with Tor Fromyhr at the ANU school of Music in Canberra, Australia; with Norwegian violinist Ole Bohn at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music; and with Charles Stegeman at the Mary Pappert School of Music in Pittsburgh, PA.
