Robert Skavronski is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in double bass performance. He also has a Master of Music degree from The New England Conservatory and a Master of Arts Management degree from the Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon.
Mr. Skavronski has appeared on numerous occasions with the Pittsburgh Symphony and works frequently with many of their musicians performing chamber works throughout the Pittsburgh area. Mr. Skavronski was principal bass of the Virginia Symphony, Virginia Opera and performed with the Renaissance City Chamber Players of Detroit, Michigan.
Currently, he is a member of the Pittsburgh Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Wheeling (WV) Symphony. Mr. Skavronski has been awarded fellowships from the Tanglewood and Aspen Festivals. In addition to performing with the Sunflower Festival, he regularly attends the Buzzards Bay Festival in Marion, MA. His double bass instructors have included Anthony Bianco, Joseph Wallace, William Rhein, Jacques Posell and Eugene Levinson.
