Jennifer Madge

Jennifer Madge, violin, is thrilled to return to Sunflower! She has had a rich orchestral career performing in summer festivals across the US as well as with orchestras around the Pittsburgh area. Some include the Buzzard’s Bay Music Festival, the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, the Civic Light Opera, the Johnstown Symphony (Associate Concertmaster), the Westmoreland Symphony (Principal Second), the Erie Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, and the Wheeling Symphony. She has been a member of the Pittsburgh Opera and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Orchestra for 30 seasons, and has served as Acting Principal Second and Acting Assistant Concertmaster. Ms. Madge holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Duquesne University and was a student of Charles Stegeman.

In addition to performing, Ms. Madge is an active and sought after violin teacher in the Pittsburgh area. She is the owner and Academy Director of The Pittsburgh Music Academy, Inc., and certified in the Suzuki method. Her students hold titled chairs in Pittsburgh area youth orchestras, win competitions, and continue on to careers in music. Past positions include adjunct faculty of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and coach of the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra.
