Meet the musicians

David Wingerson

David Wingerson, percussion, is a performer and educator in Northeast Kansas. He holds a Master of Music degree in Music Performance from Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX) and Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Washburn University (Topeka, KS). David has been a member of a number of honorary academic and musical organizations (Mortar Board; Alpha Lambda Delta) and was awarded a Helen DeVitt Jones Graduate Fellowship at Texas Tech University.

David was an ensemble member with the Washburn Percussion Collective, premiering several chamber percussion works. He has been a featured soloist with several university wind ensembles, orchestras, and percussion ensembles. David was also selected as principal percussionist of the Small College Intercollegiate Band, at the College Band Directors National Association Conference.

As a teacher, David directs bands for grades 5 through 12 in the Shawnee Heights USD 450 school district. He also serves as Coordinator for the Sunflower Music Festival, a world-class classical and chamber festival in Topeka, KS entering its 34th season.
