Amber Kaul is a freelance trombonist and educator in the Kansas City area. Originally from Apple Valley, Minnesota, Amber’s college studies led her to the University of Kansas (BM in Music Education ‘14) to study euphonium with Professor Scott Watson and trombone with Dr. Michael Davidson. She then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to study trombone with Dr. Scott Anderson at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (MM in Trombone Performance ‘16). Amber was a member of the 2014 All American College Band at Disneyland; bass trombonist for the Eutiner Festspiele in Eutin, Germany, for three seasons; and has performed and subbed with orchestras and big bands throughout the Midwest including the Omaha Symphony, Sioux City Symphony, New Jazz Order Big Band, Boulevard Big Band, and the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. She can be heard on the Naxos label, performing with the KU Wind Ensemble on its album, “In the Shadow of No Towers.” Amber currently teaches elementary music full-time in Gardner, Kansas; is the adjunct Professor of Low Brass at Ottawa University; and lives in Olathe with her husband, Philip, and cat, Basie.
