Violist Alexander Villalobos currently lives in Denver where he is completing a Master of Music degree in performance at the Lamont School of Music as the teaching assistant of Basil Vendryes. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington for his undergraduate studies with Catherine Forbes and has also received a Certificate in Performance from Lamont. A native of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Alex has performed with the Serenata Strings DFW, MSO Hot Summer Nights Festival and the Dallas Bollywood Strings. In Colorado, he is the principal violist of the Pueblo Symphony and is active as a freelancer. Alex has performed in solo master classes for Richard O’Neill, Paul Silverthorne, Susan DuBois and Roger Meyers, as well as chamber music classes with the Dover, Calidore and Danish String Quartets. He has also participated in the Apple Hill, Green Mountain, Taconic and Music and More festivals. His fine playing has been recognized by consistent placement as principal viola in the Lamont Symphony and winning the Lamont chamber music competition. He performs on a viola by Alexander Tzankow.
